How to update the Addon
Since blender does not have functions for auto update, so addons has to be updated manually.
Grid Modeler update frequently, when new update is released, you can visit my gumroad and download Grid Modeler again.
After downloading the zip file, do not unzip it.
Go to blender’s Edit > Preference > Addons, uninstall the old Grid Modeler and remove it completely, then click “install” on the top and select the zip file to install.

Version 1.27.1
Fixed a bug for Alt + N (mirror all shapes horizontally)
Now you can delete the selected shape by macbook's delete key! (works for backspace key)

Fixed a small bug for the menu of Add Object tool (6 key).

This is a major update !
Now ngon-fill and triangles-fill are merged into 1 key (with option for triangles-fill)
2 key is assigned for a new function : Line Art !
Line Art function create very thin line-faces. It can be used with Edge Shader to create Line based render easily !
I published a Basic Edge Shader for free, it can be used with the new Line Art function !
If you want to use it in game model, you can just bake it (Emit / Color only baking without light info)
Version 1.25.3
Fixed a bug for Alt + M (mirror everything).
When using selection mode, you can press Alt + M to mirror copy all shapes.
The mirror copy horizontal direction, which can be changed by Ctrl + Click.

Fixed a bug for Left-Bottom Menu (there is a strange bug in blender menu system), changed to drop-down menu for better stability.

This is a minor bug fix
- Fixed a bug for Mac keyboard support (Alt key + 7, 8 key, or [ ] key).
This bug is caused by Maya-keymap-support added in previous updates.
Version 1.24.0:
This is a special update.
- Added a "Outer height" setting in Boolean Cut menu.
When you draw a shape and then bool cut, the shape will be extruded and cut into your mesh. However, sometimes the grid plane is shifted / the face is not planar, the cut will be "inside" the mesh. This value increase the backward height of the cutter, so the cut will be 100% "from top to bottom".
Version 1.23.0:
This is a major update !
- Now the grid system is improved. The grid plane does not shift when resized / grids count changed !
- Grid plane is auto centered now!
Version 1.22.2, 1.22.3:
This is a special update :
- Now Grid Modeler is compatible to blender's "Industry Compatible" keymap ! (aka Maya keymap). Now if you use Maya keymap, you can hold Alt key to rotate the viewport without problem !

Version 1.22.0, 1.22.1:
This is a major update !
- Add a new "Global Alignment" mode ! (F6 key)
When using Global Alignment, the grids will be aligned to the global axis instead of face.
(if the face is not facing any axis, it will has no effect)
It can be very useful for scene modeling task.
Version 1.21.0:
This is a major bug fix update.
This update improved the stability of the grid plane system.
It fixed some crash bugs (for P key plane rotation).

This is a bug fix update.
- Fixed incorrect hint text.

This is a powerful update for Add-Object tool !!
- Added setting for Offset, Rotation, Scale
- Now you can draw "rectangle shape" to add object !
It will read the width + height from the rectangle for scale!

This is a Major Update !
- Now "Add Text" tool is upgraded and become "Add Object" !
You can add object at your drawn location !
1. You need to create a collection named "GM". Add your target objects into it.
2. Draw a line, press spacebar to finish then press 6 key.
3. Then you can choose which object to add !

This is a Major Update !
- Now you can use Boolean Intersection in boolean cut tool!
Just check the box "Intersection" in the Left-bottom panel.
- Now the "Line Split" tool is enhanced and re-designed !
Now it does not use Construction Lines. It use any normal white line ! Just draw and press Spacebar key to create line, then press 0 key to line cut !
- Now the Boolean Slice tool (5 key) has an option to slice the mesh without separate it. It is a very handy tool for creating details on surface (eg: sphere).
Version 1.18.5, 1.18.6, 1.18.7
This is a minor update!
- Now new circle has a center pivot point by default
- Now you can press L key to rotate the shape perpendicularly !!
1. Set one of the edge of the shape to be the alignment edge (Ctrl + Click on the edge)
2. Press L key to rotate
3. You can even rotate it by 5 degree using Ctrl + L key !
Version 1.18.4
This is a minor update!
- Enhanced Edge Pipe Smoothing function ! It has much better smoothing result and easier to use !
- Smoothing now become an checkbox instead of value.
- Fixed a bug when using two vertices point for running Grid Modeler.
Version 1.18.3
This is a minor update!
- Fixed the hint text (removed the incorrect Ctrl P hint)
- Now you can enable a new "Snap to shape" mode by pressing Ctrl + U key
In this mode, the cursor will snap to drawn points of the current shapes !
It is convenient for some use cases, eg: you want to create shape to connect duplicated shapes.
Version 1.18.1, 1.18.2:
This is a bug fix update.
- Fixed an error when there is a line and create-new-face is used.
- Fixed an rare bug occur on non-coplanar faces.
Version 1.18.0:
This is a major update :
- Now you can Resize the shape along X axis or Y axis !
Just select a shape, then press S key to resize, then X for X-lock, Y for Y-lock. (Similar to blender)
- The grid plane rotation is enhanced ! Now the rotation is easier (fewer rotation), and you can just press P key for face oriented rotation ( do not need Ctrl + P anymore).
Just press P key when you want to rotate plane. You can press P key when you are drawing shape.
- Now you can press Arrow key to move the plane !!
Press Arrow Up key to move up, and Arrow Down key to move down.
Version 1.17.1:
- Enhanced the mechanism of enlarging grid plane in "Relative Size mode". Now the plane size is relative too. (easier enlarge for large mesh)
- Updated "Add Text" tool with few options:
- Now you can change font !
- Merge text into current mesh !
- Boolean Cut by the text !

This is a major update !
- Now you can add Text Object directly in Grid Modeler !!
Adding Text object and aligning is not easy in blender. Now you can add text object to any orientation, any angle and alignment !!
1. Draw a line
2. Press Spacebar key to stop
3. Press 6 key.
You can change text content, font size, offset in menu!
Version 1.16.0:
This is a major update :
- Improved Circle tool. Now the circle is aligned to grid axis. It is easier to stack circles or adding new shapes
- Now you can mirror everything with Alt N / Alt M (selection mode)
- Now you can center the grid plane to the face's center ( G key )
- Now you can create new face as separated object (property menu)

This is a major update !

- Now you can select vertices by drag and select !
- F key can fill or remove edge between two vertices !

- Now W key switch between Selection mode and Normal mode. If you press W key in Selection mode, it switch back to Normal mode.

This is a Major Update !!
- Now you can press I key to inset/outset the shape !
Just select the shapes and press I key. It works on both closed shape and open shape!
- Now you can Press W key to quick-switch to selection mode and select the last added shape !
- Experimental function arrived ! Now you can press F1 key to save the current status! Including grid plane and shapes. (save in memory only)
- When you run the addon again, you can press F2 key to load the saved grid and shapes !
Version 1.13.1:

- Fixed a bug caused by new data structure (Ctrl + Click alignment error)

- Code rewrite (over 30%), using new data structure
- Now you can delete vertex of shape! (select a vertex in Edit Shape mode, press Del key)

Just create a open line segment (spacebar key during draw), then select the shape, and press Ctrl + M key

Version 1.12.0:
This is a Major Update !
- Now you can do simple edit of the selected shape!
1. Select Shapes
2. Press E key to enter edit mode
3. Select vertices
4. G key to move
5. B key to bevel (mouse scroll to increase bevel cut)
- Now you can smooth the pipes !
Just create your pipes as usual, then you can change the smoothing right in the properties menu on Left Bottom.

Version 1.11.0 + 1.11.1:
This is a Major Update.
- Since blender changed the default boolean solver to a new (very buggy) boolean solver "Exact Solver", the code has to be change in order to enforce it to use the old and stable boolean solver (Fast Solver).
- Improved boolean performance and stability
- Affected Boolean Cut and Boolean Slice.
Version 1.10.7:
Edge Pipe tool workflow is enhanced !!
- Now you can bevel the edges directly at the commit property !!
When you create pipes, you don't need to select and bevel it beforehand. (too troublesome)
Now you can just draw the lines, press spacebar to stop, then press 9 Key to finish.
Then, you can set the edges bevel in the property screen ("Edges Bevel" and "Edges Bevel Width"). It is very flexible for pipe creation, and you can fine tune your pipes!
- Now you can rotation your plane at drawn location by pressing P key !! (no need to press Ctrl + P).
The functions of P and Ctrl + P are swapped. Now P key rotate your plane at drawn location, and Ctrl + P for plane rotation at plane center.
Version 1.10.6:
Enhanced Plane Rotation (Ctrl + P) function!
- Now you can use Ctrl + P even only one point on the grid
- Now the plane is always centered on your last drawn location !
You can draw Edge lines easily !

- Added render resolution and bevel resolution (separated) to Pipe tool

New Plane Rotation !!
- Now when you draw, you can press Ctrl + P to rotate the plane at your last drawn location! You can press Ctrl + P repeatedly to rotate it (facing top, left, front).
This is a very convenient function for drawing Edge-Pipe around your mesh

Version 1.10.2:
New function : Edge Pipe Tool
- Now you can create edges or pipes !
You can create edge or pipes by pressing 9 key.
By default it will create edges using your shapes.
If you want to create edges without closing shape, you can use Spacebar key. When you are drawing shape, you can press spacebar key to exit drawing anytime.
After pressing 9 key to commit, you can change options in Left-bottom panel. You can check "Pipe" option to create pipes.
Version 1.10.1:
- Fixed a bug causing unwanted mesh hiding
- Auto disable Isolation for using Boolean Cut in view-plane mode

This is an option in the Left-bottom panel. By default it is turned on.
Isolation mode fix many boolean bugs (big hole, mesh disappear, etc)

- Fixed boolean performance problem for Blender 2.91
Got problem report about the new boolean solver, very slow performance and some strange results, so reverted to original boolean resolver in 2.90.
Version 1.9.10 and 1.9.11:
- Fixed a critical Boolean Slicing bug : when you have some hidden mesh, the hidden mesh will become duplicated after slicing
- Fixed bug for Incorrect functions for ngon cut and triangles cut

Version 1.9.8:
Minor update :
- Now you can flip normal for newly created face !
When you press key 3 to create new face, the Left-bottom menu has an option to flip normal. It is convenient for extruding face to inner direction.
- Now you can draw two shape with attaching edge to create sequence of new faces !
All new created faces will be merged for "overlapping-edge". So if you draw two shapes with same edge, they will share single edge!

Version 1.9.7:
This is a huge update !
- New Boolean function "Slice" is added ! Now you can draw shapes and press "5" key to Boolean-Slice the mesh. It is a boolean-way to slice cut the mesh, the resulting mesh is solid and break apart. (experimental)
- Bug fix for numpad-view stability.

Version 1.9.6:
- Now you can use "Split geometry" option for Construction Line Cut !!
When you cut mesh by Construction Line (key 0), you can choose to Knife cut the whole mesh, and also you can "split geometry" now. It will break apart them. (but the hole will not be filled by face)
- P key (Plane rotation) now work directly too !! Works even without alignment edge !
Now you can press P key to rotate the plane anytime (just start the tool and press P).
Also, you can set an alignment edge and use it too.
- Now "Auto recalculate face normal" works for edge mode and vertex mode too !! Some bugs are fixed!

Version 1.9.5:
- Now you can use "Cut- through" option when using Construction Line Cut !
When you use Construction Line Cut, you can select the cut through option. The whole mesh will be knife-project cut !
- Now when you Ctrl + Click to set an alignment edge, it will be highlighted in blue color!

- Now you can change grid and shape colors !

- Now you can use 1,2,3,4 key to commit in Selection mode too!
Version 1.9.3:
This is a core update !!
- Now it has built-in snapping of edge and vertex ! So when you draw shapes near the borders, you can snap to edge and corner vertex easily. Although I still recommend using alignment-edge (Ctrl Click) for many cases, but built-in edge snapping is convenient too!
- Now Boolean-Cut will auto fix mesh face normal (Recalculate Outside).
When you use 3 Key and create new face + extrude, and then you want to boolean-cut on it, sometimes the normal is incorrect and blender's boolean fail. Now you don't have to Recalculate normal by yourself. :)
Version 1.9.2:
- Now you can set the hint text's X-position on the screen (in addon's preference setting).
You can enter the offset value from the left of the screen.
- Now Vertex mode is supported !!
You can select a vertex to run the tool ! (Use the vertex's normal)
Also, you can select 2 vertices to run, it will align on the line between 2 vertices.
And you can select 3 vertices too, it will align on the virtual plane formed by 3 vertices.
Running grid plane on the vertex normal allow you to do some advanced cutting and face creation.
Version 1.9.1:

Version 1.9.0:
This is a huge update !!
- New feature : Construction Line Cut !!
Now you can draw Construction Lines (Y key) and split the mesh with those lines !
They are projection-knife cutting, so it works quite stable (compare to blender's boolean) and very useful !

- Starting from this update, Grid Modeler has direct key access to all operation mode.
They are 1, 2, 3, 4 keys on the top of keyboard !!
There are :
Key 1 : cut and n-gon fill
Key 2 : cut and triangle fill
Key 3 : Create new face
Key 4 : Boolean cut
Key 0 : Construction line cut
The new operations will be added to the number keys in the future !! Enjoy !
